A lot of you may realise I’ve been going hard on the health and fitness tip recently. However, I wanted to remind you that I’m not doing it because I want to be a “skinny mini”. I’m doing it because I want to be healthier and fitter. The stereoptypical reaction I’ve been getting is that I’m working out simply because I’m unhappy with my body, but the opposite is true. Fitness comes in all shapes and sizes and shouldn’t be judged. So I wanted to dedicate this post, to just remind you all that no matter what shape, size, sexuality or ethnic group you are, you’re beautiful – and don’t let anyone tell you any different!
After being contacted by an agency, I looked into the plus sized modelling world. I was obviously flattered to be contacted, but at the same time, I was also put off because I didn’t feel confident enough to even be considered a model. So, I looked at other agencies, I’ve agreed to go on a body-confidence modelling course for plus sized women, hosted by Ms. Curvalicious.
Body Positivity is so important in this day and age. Both men and women are forced to feel like there’s an “ideal” body type and if your body doesn’t fit in with that ideal, then you’re somehow unloveable or unworthy of feeling good about yourself. It’s a horrible state of affairs. Being body positive is about more than just feeling good when you look in the mirror. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin, unafraid to wear what others wear or do what others do. Being body positive gives you the strength to do the things you feel you want to do, not just the things you feel you ought to do.
If you ever come across great opportunities, my advice would be to you to grab it with both hands and don’t let anything hold you back – go with the flow. Don’t overthink it all. There’s a reason that opportunity has found its way to you specifically and it’s because you’re worthy of it! Be yourself, love yourself and don’t let this shallow world grind you down.
