Bringing Some Light to the Dark Side

Hey guys I hope you all had a fab Valentines day!

I recently did a poll on Instagram asking you all what you want me to post about next and the overwhelming response I recieved was that people wanted another fashion post. In particular, people wanted to know how to add a bit of colour to their wardrobe.

But, as you all know, I really love black, so I decided to do a post about how I spice up my black wardrobe.

Smart Casual

I love this plunging blouse from Topshop. It’s ivory in colour and has a lovely tied back. I have my back jeans but it will also work really nicely with leggings or even blue jeans. Match these up with knee-high boots in black, or even white, and you have yourself an outfit that works for any situation.

Satin Bias Midi Skirt

I absolutely adore this skirt, which is also from Topshop. It’s so beautiful and has that silk feel to it.

The mustard bright and bold ochre shade has a very glossy look to it in the light. If mustard isn’t for you though, worry not, as it is available in other colours.

I’ve topped this look off with a long sleeve turtle-neck top (of course in black!) and open toe shoes with my black Mango clutch bag.

Dark blue Dress

This dress is from Laura Ashley. I can’t help but appreciate the dark blue wrap dress that flatters my curvy body.

I’ve noticed any wrap dress seems to fit my body shape perfectly so that’s something to keep in mind on your next shopping trip if you have the same body shape as me.

Unfortunately I got this dress in the January sale meaning it’s old stock and no longer on the website but if it’s the print you like they have reused it for spring.

This skirt is from H&M. It’s a gently flared, unlined calf-length skirt and has a sheen finish.

Ribbed Polo Neck Jumper

My ribbed polo neck jumper is from Marks & Spencers. It’s great quality, very flattering and very versatile. You can get them in all sorts of colours and they are true to size and give you that pop of colour. I also love that it’s a light jumper so you can keep wearing it until the weather warms up. Grab yours here!

You can’t really go wrong with pink and black!

This satin pink stripe bias midi skirt is from Topshop. The skirt is part of one of this season’s hottest trends. In a pretty taupe shade, it’s super versatile and will make a great addition to any outfit so check out this skirt here

Slit pants

These pants are super cute and you can pick them up from New Look.

They are more like leggings and have slits down both sides. I think they’ll be fantastic for me in them breezy, hazy days when the weather is not quite warm enough for summer dresses but warm enough for some leg show.

That said, like the dark blue dress from Topshop, I picked these trousers up in the January sale and they’re old season.

But, keep an eye out for something similar to jazz up your black top and strappy shoes combo.

Textures

If you can’t change your black on black look you can at least throw in some textures like I’ve done here.

Another January steal so I can’t provide you the link but they are from New Look as well.

The fact that the stripes on these pants are textured really livens up a black outfit.
